Mindartis was born to a family that was rather well off in the Feywild. His family had it all. Rank, wealth, talent, and beauty. When Mindartis was born, his jealous uncle told a false prophecy about him saying that Mindartis would bring ruin to the Feywild; he feared that Mindartis would outshine his own son in the same way his brother had outshined him. He spread his lies to the right members of House de Mal’hoor and Mindartis was banished from the Feywild. Mindartis’ father was fortunate enough to have adventured when he was younger and had a few dwarven allies in the Nentir Vale who were happy to raise Mindartis in his stead. Among the dwarves Mindartis proved quite diligent and skillful at crafting items and with some help from a few musty tomes learned the ways of the Artificier. Occasionally Mindartis’ father would make visits when he could afford the proper rituals as well as during short instances of when the Feywild and natural world were in close proximity. During these visits Mindartis leared from his father the Eladrin way of spear fighting. Now an adult and instilled with a desire to craft magic items to rival his dwarven mentors, Mindartis has set out into the world as an adventurer. At least that’s what he tells most people. He has another reason for adventuring. His true reason is he wonders how his prophecy will play out in the material plane as opposed to the Feywild. He wishes to visit the Feywild, but fears ever returning.
How do others perceive you in social interactions? Reserved, but occasionally witty.
How optimistic are you? Slightly grim, but has a glimmer of hope deep within.
How trusting are you? Skeptical and suspicious.
How assertive are you at a decision point? Timid
How conscientious are you about following rules? Flexible most of the time, but wild if the rules start to chaff too much or are used improperly.
How empathetic are you? He is usually quite stern, but can be kind and protective if a strong enough connection is made.
How courageous are you in dire straits? He is a bit overly cautious, but is also quite brave and fierce in the face of danger.
How do you feel when faced with setbacks? Minor setbacks are faced stoicly, however, a large setback can make him quite vengeful.
How are your nerves? Most of the time he is quite patient.
Do you have any unusual mannerisms? He’s always messing with something. He examines weapons for long lengths of time, especially when there isn’t much else to do. He’ll flip the item around in his hands and put it at different angles.
Why did you decide to be an adventurer? How old were you then and how old are you now? He became an adventurer because of curiosity and a desire for more magical things to fiddle with as well as to see how his false prophecy would play out. He was 23 when he realized he could go out to a life of adventure, but did not leave on this adventure until he felt he was completely ready, which took two years.
How did you acquire your class? If you’re a fighter, for example, you might have been in a militia, come from a family of soldiers, trained in a martial school, or be a self-taught warrior. Mindartis learned the ways of an Artificier from a mix of old books, long practice, and tips from the few other dwarven arcane spellcasters he could find.
How did you acquire your starting equipment? Did you assemble it piece by piece over time? Was it a gift from a parent or mentor? Do any of your personal items have a special significance? On his father’s last visit, Mindartis recieved from him most of his starting equipment as well as his father’s first Greatspear to use as his own.
What’s the worst event of your life? The worst event was when he was banished as a baby, but he can not remember that event since he was so young. To him his worst event in his life so far was when he thought he had perfected his artificiering and gathered the whole clan he lived with to show them what he’d mastered, only to have it blow up in his face and make him the laughing stock of the clan for ages. A few of the more mean spirited dwarves still pester him about that to this day.
What’s the best thing that has ever happened to you? The day he mastered his class and secretly jinxed the tools of the dwarves who laughed at him to not work when they used them. He promised to fix them, but has yet to do so.
Do you stay in contact with your family? What do relatives think of you and your chosen career? His only contact with his relatives is when his father visits sometimes from the Feywild. His father approves of his choice to adventure, mostly because it makes his father proud, but also because his father can brag that his son is an awesome talent that they threw away.
Which cultures did you interact with as a child? Did those interactions influence your language choices? Mindartis interacted with mostly dwarves and a few humans, but rarely interacted with other Eladrin. When he did he took great care to make notes of their culture.
Are you tall, short, or in between? Inbetween
What sort of build are you? Solid and muscular, or lean and wiry? He is slightly muscular, but hides it beneath rather baggy dwarven clothes which are stretched out to fit him more effectively.
Are you male or female? Young or Old? His is male and quite young.
What skin color are you? Hair color? Eye Color? He is quite pale with long white hair and blue eyes.
What distinguishing characteristics do you have? He sometimes keeps his hair in a pony tail, usually when he needs to work on an item. Otherwise he lets his hair flow out. He has no tattoos yet, but has considered getting one and enchanting it to do peculiar things, if for no other reason than to impress commoners.
